Dr. Rick Q. Vu is originally from California, where he double majored in Criminology and Psychology, with a minor in Biology at the Fresno State University. He initially wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement, but his father who is also a dentist persuaded him to follow his lead. After passing numerous obstacles and challenges, he came to Nashville to attend dental school.
Dr. Rick Q. Vu earned his D.D.S. degree from Meharry Medical College located in Nashville in May of 2001. In order to develop his skills as a practitioner, he attended a post-doctoral program known as GPR or General practitioner Residency at Meharry Medical College.
In June 2013, Dr. Vu attained the status of Fellow at the Academy of General Dentistry. The title FAGD has been recognized by other general dentists as a leader and exemplifies to other dentists the importance of quality continuing dental education to patient care. It signifies that a general dentist went above and beyond their duties as a practitioner.
In July 2020, Dr. Vu received the prestigious Mastership Award, a professional credential that recognizes AGD members commitment to excellence in dental education. The Mastership Award is the highest honor available in the AGD and one of the most respected designations in the profession. This accomplishment meets the highest criteria for professional excellence. To accomplish this, Dr. Vu completed 1,100 hours of continuing dental education in the 16 disciplines of dentistry, including 400 hours dedicated to hands-on skills and techniques. As a recipient of this award, Dr. Vu has joined over 3,500 members of the dental community who understand that great smiles and good oral health for their patients are the result of going above and beyond basic requirements. Less than 2% of general dentists obtain this level of distinction.
Dr. Rick Q. Vu has numerous memberships including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Tennessee Dental Association, International Congress of Oral Implantologist and the Academy of Facial Esthetics. He loves and appreciates the community he serves, which is evident in the praise and salutations that patients give. When he is not busy creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Vu enjoys a healthy lifestyle by staying fit, engaging in sports and spending time with his two beautiful children.
I was born and raised in Robertson County Tennessee. After high school, I graduated from Volunteer State Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Assisting in 1999. I then went on to obtain my Bachelor's in Management from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2004. My dental background includes 10 years of Pediatric Chairside Dentistry, 7 years as an instructor for nationally accredited Dental Assistant Programs, and 13 years Dental Office Management. Dentistry is my passion, allowing me to educate and improve my patient's knowledge, oral health and ultimately, their overall health. I have 2 beautiful children whom I adore more than words can express. In our spare time, we love to seek adventures new and far, enjoying all life has to offer.
I am married with three children and two beautiful grandchildren. I love to smile! I love sports and watching the children play sports. I also love working in the Dental field. I love letting people know how important their oral health is. Letting people know they can have a healthy and beautiful smile!
I am married with 2 children. I love to go camping, travel and spending time with my family. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I enjoy meeting new people and I am excited to be working with patients here at 5-Star Dental Care.
I have been a registered dental hygienist since graduating from TSU in 2007. I live on a farm with my husband and my two boys, who are my world. I am so excited to be working for serving you here at 5-Star Dental Care.
Hey! I'm Maddie. I'm the newest Hygienist here at 5 Star Dental Care. I grew up right down the road in Clarksville, TN. After graduating from Rossview High School, I knew I wanted to become a hygienist and spent 4 years at Western Kentucky University graduating from the Dental Hygiene program. I'm super excited to grow as a hygienist and with 5 Star Dental and build relationships with my patients. On the weekends and in my spare time you can catch me at the dog park with my Goldendoodle Bentley or exploring downtown Nashville with friends.
I grew up in Cheatham County and married my high school sweetheart. Weve been blessed with three kids who keep our lives so full! Youll find us in our free time enjoying anything outdoors. I graduated from TSU in 2008 with a BS in Dental Hygiene. Working part-time as a Registered Dental Hygienist at 5 Star Dental has been a great experience. Im so thankful I get to serve the community I have called home most of my life by helping care for your smile!

First and last time going to this clinic! I made an appointment because I had a filling fall out. The dentist came in looked in my mouth for 2-seconds and said "I'm not touching it". He told me I needed either an extraction or a root canal but he won't do it. What?! He gave me a referral for another dentist and sent me on my way. I'm not sure what shocks me more, the sour demeanor of the dentist or the fact the "dentist" doesn't do extractions or root canals. I'm shocked by the whole experience.

The short version is this: if you just need a dentist, I'm sure this office would be sufficient. If you need cosmetic work, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I visited this office because I needed cosmetic work done after root canals discolored my teeth and I had a dental implant done. My hope was that I could have two crowns, the implant and some whitening done. Upon meeting Dr. Vu, I did not feel like he was particularly friendly or helpful. After I asked about whitening, he asked if I'd tried at home whitening. When I explained that I was nervous to try them because I didn't know if they would damage my teeth, I got no response. No info on what I could try or what they offered. After I explained needing the two crowns and implant done, but wanted to whiten first so that my teeth would all match he simply said "We can get them to look similar but they definitely won't be perfect." After the exam, he noted I would need a cavity filled on a tooth as well. A month later I went to my general dentist for a cleaning and asked about the cavity. There was no cavity on that tooth. I was not happy with my experience and left feeling defeated. Ultimately, I drove into Nashville and had excellent work done at Gulch Dental Studio. My teeth are whiter after Dr. Harris informed me of at home options, and my teeth all match, they look AMAZING. You'd never know they weren't my natural teeth. I would like to say that the staff was very friendly and kind throughout my experience, and they are why I am leaving a 2 star as opposed to a 1 star review.

Dr. Vu and his entire staff were exceptional in making me feel comfortable and safe while performing a difficult procedure. I felt well taken care of for my entire visit. I highly recommend them.

I love 5-Star Dental Care ...They are all very Nice and Helpful and make you feel comfortable and more relaxed there than I have felt at other Dentist office! I have the family plan with them and I'm so glad they take care of all of our dental needs!

Dental Hygienist and Dentist performed well and appreciated their care. I found it concerning that they ask for the same information repeatedly and do not seem to have their processes streamlined and required me to fill out same information more than once. Office personal admitted that they have two different systems that do not communicate. This duplication of effort was somewhat frustrating but overall they are okay.

I hate going to the dentist. Like, REALLY HATE going. Years ago I had some really bad experiences thanks to dental work in the military. (Anyone stationed at Ft. Bragg, going to Dentac #5 on Smoke Bomb Hill, you'll understand why) Rude doctors, inept techs, (3) badly done root canals that ended with a hole in the root and a crack down the front of the tooth. Yep, I do not like getting dental work done. Until now. WOW!!!! Dr. Vu was so nice and understanding about my anxieties about having a molar extracted. (It just couldn't be put off any longer) I didn't feel a thing from the numbing shots and even better, I did NOT feel the tooth being removed!! Of course there was a little soreness afterwards and that was to be expected, but it was still a much better experience than what my former experiences had been. Will I recommend Dr. Vu and 5-Star Dental Care to my friends and family? MOST DEFINITELY!!! Will I myself come back for more (pushed off for another time) dental care? MOST DEFINITELY, and I won't be nearly as nervous as I use to be. Thank you to Dr. Vu and your staff! You've turned me into a calmer patient who will hopefully after a few more visits, will be smiling a healthier, whiter smile.

Dr Vu, a truly fine, articulate dentist. Dr. Vu is extremely ethical and compassionate. Dr. Vu truly cares about his patients. Difficult to find professionals like him now days. Highly recommended.
