The fourth oldest of 10 children, Dr. Keefe was born and raised in Port Washington, Wisconsin. After high school, he joined the US Air Force, which relocated him to Spokane Washington. During his time in the USAF, he became a dental assistant and discovered his love for helping people through dentistry. After leaving the Air Force, he began working as a dental assistant to Dr. Ed Fredrickson, a prominent prosthodontist who specialized in dentures and implants and was one of the first dentists to provide osseointegrated dental implants in the United States.
Inspired by Dr. Fredrickson to further his education, Jason attended Whitworth University in Spokane and Chaminade University of Honolulu to complete the undergraduate requirements for Dental School. He met his wife while they were both in school, and they have been happily married for more than 30 years. As a Dental Hygienist, she is and has been a part of his practice since the very beginning. In 1990, Dr. Keefe graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Within five years, he had two practices, one in Kettle Falls and one in Spokane. For seven years, he owned and operated both clinics, commuting 100 miles daily!
Kettle Falls, Washington was a beautiful rural area, but had several challenges. There were no other dentists available. Dr. Keefe quickly evolved his skills in endodontics and oral surgery, as root canals and extractions became routine, everyday procedures. In order to serve his community better, he also trained in orthodontics and Invisalign. He has placed miles of wire for both children and adults, and provided early intervention orthodontics for young children. He continued his earlier training in implants and implant surgery as well, rounding out his knowledge and helping him become a true Smile Expert. In 2014, Dr. Keefe purchased 5 Mile Smiles from Dr. Andrew Biggs, Spokanes Smile Doctor.

Hi, Im Sue, one of the hygienists here at 5 Mile Smiles. Its always fun to get your teeth cleaned and the best part is catching up on what youve been doing since your last cleaning. Hello, Im Laurie! I am a dental hygienist at 5 Mile Smiles, but I have many different roles within the office. I attended Whitworth University and Shoreline Community College and have been working in the dental field for over 26 years. I enjoy being a hygienist and meeting all the wonderful new patients, some who have become lifelong friends. My husband Jason and my two sons have fun appreciating the various outdoor activities in Spokane like house boating, cross country skiing and kayaking. I also like to cook, read and enjoy my pets. I have many years of experience in dental hygiene. My favorite part is making people comfortable in the office and with their care. I grew up in Texas and Louisiana, practicing there as well as New Mexico, Colorado, and Idaho. I moved to Spokane six months ago after twenty seven years in Boise because my daughter said come on up, we love it here! I am loving my new life and friends and office here as well. Dr. Keefe was so nice! He spent a lot of time discussing my treatment plan with me and wasn't rushed. I called my husband while I was still at the office and told him to make an appointment there also.

I can not say enough how much I appreciate Dr. Keefe and his staff. He truly is an implant specialist. Go to him for any cosmetic dentistry. He is extremely confident because he knows what he's doing, and made adjustments until my crown was perfect. I had no pain during the procedure, and he was transparent about the process. I wasn't scared or in the dark about anything, and knew what was going on. He did not rush the process, and the end result was so natural and perfect!! Call this office first. I have been to other offices and the doctors either lacked confidence or made me feel unimportant. Yes I doctor shopped for my dental implant, and Dr. Keefe was the most knowledgeable.

If I could give a negative star I would. There is no score low enough to assign this hack's work. I can only imagine there are not more negative reviews because they have been removed. The so-called professional dentist is a complete hack. He was abusive and permanently damaged my front teeth. I came in for a crown and left with a substandard mess including the tooth to the left of it being ground down leaving the tooth curved inward, making it useless to bite. The surface is rough from the grinding, making it a magnet for stains. So much money and now I am unable to afford having the mess fixed. The grinding of my tooth took place while my face was numb. I had no idea what was happening until it was too late. The placement of the halfass crown also makes biting down impossible. This place is a disgrace, causing pain and distress. Don't risk your smile with these hacks.

Dr. Keefe and his team are the best in town. I was a new patient with a broken tooth, and was able to get an appointment same day under an emergency basis. He and his team painlessly repair my tooth. Best dental experience I have ever had. I will definitely go back for future care and recommend Dr. Keefe and his team to anyone in need of dental care.

I broke my lower denture and called them after seeing my Dental Insurance was accepted. They took me in immediately and that same day had temporarily repaired my old denture and got me a new set in the works. Everyone was great that I came across and the Dr. was awesome. Friendly and efficient staff and very relaxing atmosphere.

My first dentist visit after moving to Spokane and I chose the right one! Everyone was friendly and accommodating. I thought I'd miss my former dentist but 5 Mile Smile made the transition super easy.. I highly recommend them. [Edit] 1/2/2019 I needed to go back and see Dr. Keefe due to pain from hot and cold food on one tooth. This was two days before Thanksgiving and a planned trip out of town to visit family. I was offered an appointment the same day I called by couldn't make it work I got an appointment the next day and was diagnosed as needing a root canal. Dr. Keefe performed the root canal and I was in and out in ~90 minutes with no more pain. Everyone was awesome and I was able to visit my family out of town without having to worry about tooth pain! Thank you Dr. Keefe and team! [Edit] It happened again. A veneer crown came off late in the afternoon. I called 5 Mile Smiles and they told me they could see me immediately. I drove over and after taking my temperature due to Covid-19 precautions, I way in the chair within 5 minutes. My crown and tooth was cleaned and put back about 10 minutes later! Once again, super great and fast service when I needed it. Best dental office ever!

I have tried to make an appointment for a cleaning multiple times. The receptionist asked me if I want to come in same day 2 days in a row and I told her it is too short of notice. She then responds "you bet, I'll keep you in mind." What does that mean? They only give me 30 min to get there and I live 30 min away so no plan time at all. I just wanted an appointment.

I am a new patient of 5 Mile Smiles. They were able to get me in quickly. I have been there 3 times now. The women up front, Danielle and Sarah have both been extremely welcoming and friendly. The hygienist, Sarah was very educational, she provided some really helpful tips on ways I can help keep my mouth healthy, which I apperciated. I really enjoyed interacting with their assistant, Tina. She has been very sweet and always made sure I was comfortable.

I had an appointment at 11:00am that I couldn't make and the Receptionist was nice enough to reschedule me the SAME DAY. I went in wanting composite bonding, yet when I spoke to the doctor things changed. The doctor, Jason Keefe was nice enough to give me free valuable advice on what I should do in order to reach the goal I wanted for my teeth. I walked out with greater understanding of how my teeth operate and what steps to do to get the smile I wanted at low cost to me. Although I may not continue treatment with them, I do recommend this office to anybody!
