Dr. Meek is a dentist who earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from TrinityUniversity in San Antonio before pursuing his doctorate at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School, San Antonio. This dental school has been consistently ranked the number-one dental education center in the United States.

Dr. Meek and Dr. David Tasch opened their dentist office, 38th Street Dental, in 1997. Quality, not quantity, has always been the goal of each and every dental procedure. Dr. Meek began using his dental training in implant dentistry on day one of practice, restoring cases that the periodontist who previously owned the dental practice had ready for him.

Dr. Meek completed the requirements for Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry and received the award in Philadelphia in 2012. Attaining Fellowship is a rigorous process that requires five years of membership in the AGD, over 500 hours of continuing education, and passing a certification exam.

Dental implants are one of the most significant developments in dentistry in the last 100 years. That's because they not only provide the absolute best support for replacement teeth, but also stop the bone atrophy that can affect the jaw following tooth loss. No other dental treatment can provide these benefits.

Though implants can be life-changing, it takes the right dentist to help you achieve the best possible outcome. As an authority on dental implants, C. Mike Meek, DDS, offers exceptional implant dentistryat our Austin office. 38th Street Dental - General dentist in Austin, TX

My love affair with Austin began early in my life. Back when Lamar Boulevard was the main north-south thoroughfare in Austin, I would spend a portion of my summer vacations visiting my grandparents. I am very fortunate to have childhood memories of Zephyr train rides in Zilker Park followed by refreshing swims in the enchanting emerald-blue waters of Barton Springs. In 1982, I was elated to learn that my family was relocating to Austin. My high school years passed quickly here in Austin, and soon,I was attending the University of Texas. In addition to earning a BA in Biology, I also had the wonderful fortune of meeting Sara, my wife, during my stay at UT.

My professional career began in 1992 at the number one ranked dental school in the nation: The University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. In 1997, I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery and quickly returned to Austin where Dr. Meek, a friend and dental school colleague, and I began 38th Street Dental.

I really love all aspects of dentistry. People will often ask me if I am a 'cosmetic dentist.' My response is that the bulk of my practice is not centered around placing porcelain laminate veneers on people 'sfront teeth. Instead, my focus tends to be on preserving and restoring function. Sometimes it is simply a single tooth, while at other times, it may involve reconstructing an entire dental arch. But in each and every case, I feel that all dentistry should be regarded as 'cosmetic dentistry.' So, I guess in that regard, I consider myself a 'cosmetic dentist.'

Over the past 23-plus years, I have been fortunate enough to witness and be a part of several revolutions in dentistry. Digital X-rays have resulted in faster and higher quality images used in diagnosing dental disease. Digital dental impressions are faster and more accurate and completely eliminate any possibility of the patient drooling and/or gagging that was so often seen with traditional putty impressions. Zirconia crowns and bridges have finally provided tooth-colored restorative options that have thestrength and longevity that could only formerly be attained with gold dental restorations. Additionally, dental implants have become a routine treatment modality, often replacing bridges and partials/dentures with restorations that better resemble the function and appearance of natural teeth.

I am a member of the Capital Area Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association, regularly attending continuing education courses to allow for the best patient care possible.

My passion for helping people achieve beautiful smiles is only surpassed by my love of spending time with my wife, Sara, and two children, Carsten and Kelsey. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring nature, creating landscape architecture, taking astrophotos, and exercising.

Love going to 38th Street Dental! Sadie, my hygienist has such a gentle touch, I almost fall asleep in the chair. Dr. Meek is great; I've been going to him for years. The office staff is also super and will readily assist me with any financial and insurance questions I might have.

Once again 38th Street Dental came through with flying colors. That's above and beyond!
