After completing his undergraduate degree with honors from Emory University in Atlanta in just three years, Dr. Pooria Shahin attended Columbia University School of Dental Medicine. Graduating with honors, he received his doctorate in dental surgery in 2009. Dr. Shahin completed his Surgical/General Practice residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Since that time, he has managed and built First Impression Dental. Dedicated to providing the finest quality dental care for the Brooklyn community and attaining very high levels of patient satisfaction, Dr. Shahin has seen his patient population grow tremendously. He looks forward to serving his loyal community for many years to come.
Born and raised in India, Dr. Shah moved to the US when he was 16. After graduating from Rincon High School in Tucson, AZ he enrolled in the seven-year combined dental program at Boston University where he received his Bachelors and Doctorate. Following dental school, he completed his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Boston University in 2012. Dr. Shah is a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He was board certified in 2013 and is now a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.Dr. Shah is a very passionate Lakers fan and enjoys watching the classic baseball rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, bike riding, running, playing squash, cooking, and tasting different cuisines.

I came here for a couple of years and was generally happy with their service. However, when I changed insurance before my last cleaning I asked them directly "do you take my new insurance?" and the answer was "yes" ... but they failed to mention to me that they were out of network. So when I received the explanation of benefits from my insurance, they had charged them more than 5x what the out of pocket cost would be for me with zero insurance, including some "miscellaneous" charges which were denied which according to the receptionist I don't have to pay... I get that I could have looked up if they were in network, but if I explicitly ask if my insurance is taken -- an ethical business would also share if they are out of network, not completely overcharge the insurance company, and not leave it up to me to find out in my explanation of benefits. Will be finding a new dentist.

I had a great experience at 1st impression dental. The staff was super professional and the office was really clean. I went in for a routine cleaning and I will continue to be a client there!

Dr Shahin and his staff are excellent! I get nervous visiting the dentist, but everyone was very friendly and made me feel comfortable and at ease! I will definitely be coming back!

I visited First Impression from a friend's referral and I must say I was impressed with the dental service I got from deep cleaning to fillings. I loved how comfortable each appointment was and most importantly the care and reliability across the practice . I will certainly refer my friends and co-workers!!!

I recently completed dental work at 1st Impression Dental. I was very impressed by the staff and their attention to cleanliness. Everyone made me feel very comfortable, this made the experience so much better than previous dental offices i have used. I will be returning for future dental work and also recommending the office to my friends and family.

Started going here around last year and had two teeth extracted. After the procedure I was in severe pain for days. I had an infection before and they still removed both teeth which is why I assumed I still had pain. Recently I noticed they would send charges to my insurance company and charge me a different balance over the phone and when I bought the checks in said they couldn't give change nor put the balance towards a future payment. So they took a few bucks no big deal right?! I called my dental insurance provider and not only did they tell me that was incorrect but she was supposed to give me the remainder after the balance was paid. I will no longer be attending this dentist office. They are money hungry and I wish I read the reviews below before going.

Dr. Shahin Is incredible! I highly recommend. He acts like your his only patient and puts so much work into everything he does. The place is super clean & I feel so comfortable every time I go in! I am usually so afraid of going to the dentist but he makes my experience Phenomenal every time!!!

1st Impression Dental is extremely clean and professional. Dr. Shahin is very kind and truly cares about your experience there. He is honest and upfront about costs and expectations. He explains everything clearly to make sure you understand. I had a cleaning and X-rays and was very happy with the service overall. Will definitely be going back in the future!

Buyer beware. Make sure to ask them if they take your insurance. They billed mine and made no mention they were out of network. my insurance company told me the prices they billed were outrageous.

This place has the best dentist I have ever been too. So kind, caring and they do a great job. If you do not have insurance you can sign up for Doctors Network which really helps with the cost.

I visited this dentist in August now months later in Dec they are telling me I owe over $500. They initially told me that my insurance covered my cleaning as well as my binding procedure and would only have to pay $100 out of pocket which I did. Money hungry & mislead customer

Dr. Shah is amazing, and everyone at the office makes going to the dentist such a pleasant experience. I moved to Philadelphia a few years ago, and still refuse to switch dentists. I fully endorse and recommend.

What can I say? Dr. Shahin is the best. Typically we get scared when you go to the dentist, but everyone from the reception to the nurse to Dr. Shahin himself makes your visit so pleasant. I highly recommend this dental office to everyone. Thank you so much guys!! See you in January!!
