I would highly recommend 19th Ave Dental Excellence to anyone looking for a new dentist for the first time in awhile, or anyone looking for an upgrade from your current dentist!! From Sheryl and Maria up front answering the phone and taking care of my insurance needs and scheduling, etc, to Dasia the dental assistant, to Dr P., my experience has been significantly better than my last dentists office!!! Everyone is super nice and helpful, and I could tell immediately that Dr P. Does excellent work!!! I now feel 100% reassured my dental health is in the best of hands, and that's a great feeling!!!!

I've been being cared for by doctor Kiisk and his hygienist Gilbert for approximately seven years. I feel they are two of the best in their respected fields, and am grateful to receive care from them and the friendly support staff too.

You shouldn't trust a place that most of their 5 star reviews, are from individuals that have only 1 or a few reviews. I got a bunch of dental work done here years ago because they accepted my insurance, was near where I lived at the time, and I was in dire need. Well turns out one of my root canals was drilled too deep back right molar and my new dentist has to get an oral surgeon to come in and clear an abscess that has formed because of his mistake, new info: they couldn't save the tooth because of the infection and bone loss and had to remove the tooth, You can see the filling material like a tail hanging out of the bottom of the root, several mm long (that's just negligent work). I thought something was wrong but what do I know. Another crown he installed cracked because he didn't fully clear the cavity didn't set the crown properly leaving an odd lip, and damaged the tooths root too, had to have that tooth extracted. So save yourself future pain and money and teeth and keep researching your dentists. Or go to Mexico and get quality work cheaper than even after insurance rates, and get a vacation out of it too. I should tell you it was Dr. Kiisk that did the botched work.

I don't have any complain about my dentist (dr.P) and the front desk (Maria) they're nice. The problem is with other staff that's saying they are to busy to call the insurance company to confirm my benefit. They always charged me wrong and made me pay more than what I should pay. They don't want to take times to confirm your benefits with the insurance company. They want me to call my insurance to ask them a confirmation letter. My insurance faxed them the paper twice and the staffs keep saying they didn't get it so they canceled my appointment. They are very rude if you have a problem with the charges, they don't want to hear it. The owner should give them a new training to refresh their customer service and how to read the benefits. Please make sure with your insurance about the coverange, because it seems the staffs just generalized charges without looking at your benefits into details.

I want to share with those considering 19th Avenue Dental Excellence a letter I received from Dr. Kiisk, the owner of the clinic because I think it shows who he is. I went to his clinic twice for teeth cleaning - first in 2018 and second in 2019. In both visits, the clinic offered treatments for my dental conditions involving cavity but I did not accept; I received cavity treatment from my previous dentist in 2007. Unfortunately, the procedure caused complications in a week, resulting in loss of a tooth. Since I had not had symptoms at all before receiving the treatment (the x-ray results were the only evidence of the cavity) but the treatment resulted in tooth ache and loss of a tooth, I wanted to wait this time. Instead of trying to persuade the patient, however, Dr. Kiisk simply discharged me from his clinic by sending a letter. I was totally blindsided when I received his letter. In both of my visits to his clinic, I have never met him as he said, "Your records indicate" in the letter; my teeth cleaning was done by dental hygienists. Without directly seeing a patient, I am not sure how one can talk about doctor-patient relationship, which he mentioned in the letter. I am a health care professional seeing patients and teaching at a university. If we have patients who do not follow our treatments, it is our job to help them follow the treatment by working closely with them. This is also what we teach our students both in classroom and in clinic. If a doctor abandons patients who are not receiving the treatment he or she believes necessary, can this doctor be really called a doctor? If this is the type of care you are looking for, I still have one more to share with you. In both visits, I was offered an oral cancer screening test. However, I had to decline it because they did not know the basic information on the test; when I asked what sensitivity (true positiveness) and specificity (true negativeness) of the test was, they did not seem to know even the concept of these basic measures of a test.

My hygienist Mimi is professional and caring, always concerned about my comfort. She answers my questions and advises me on my oral hygiene routine. She's been great. The office staff are always friendly and helpful.
