An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. The tiny video camera moves around inside of your mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam of your teeth. Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is an advanced, proven technology that provides more precise three-dimensional (3D) imaging for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral health conditions. 3D dental X-rays can uncover issues that may not be detectable with 2D X-rays. By making images easier to see, its helpful in gaining a better understanding of oral health conditions and suggested treatment.

I have been looking around SoCal for dentists for a very long time and Dr Kong at 17th Street Modern Dentistry has been phenomenal. Trustworthy, fast, transparent, and professional. From making my appointment to getting all my teeth checked, it was super smooth and welcoming! I highly recommend anyone looking for a good dentist to go to Dr. Kong!

This the best dental experience I've ever had. Very professional, skillful, and pleasant. They easily dealt with a problem that other dentists had been squirming around, a 40 yr old crown on a back molar. Their "charges" weren't puffed up with nonsense. AND they didn't push further work, which means I'll go back and get some more work. Imagine that!

The staff is friendly and helpful. Emily, the hygienist was friendly and patient since I'm a nervous patient when I had to go in for my filling, Dr. Walker was extra sensitive to the fact that I'm not a fan of needles and talked me through the entire process. It was painless! I would highly Recommend this office!!

Michaela, Sandra and Cody were amazing. Having not been to a dentist since I moved to America I have been reluctant to visit a dentist but this was a better experience than any experience in the uk. My wife and I are looking forward to being long term patients.

This place treated me great. They negotiated a fair price and I had them repair/replaced six lower front teeth with crowns. The work was complex but they got it all done in two visits. They have advanced technology and a well trained staff.

This was by far the best and most wonderful experience I have ever had at a dental office. Dr. Ruppert-Majer fixed the troublesome food trap that I have lived with for many years! 3 dentists at different offices had attempted this repair in the past and only made it worse. She was very personable, knowledgeable and skilled making me feel relaxed in her chair. She reviewed my x-rays with me in detail, explaining existing issues and care that is advisable to prevent future urgent dental problems. I appreciated her expert advice as previous dentists have not educated me. I felt her sincere desire to give me the best dental care possible. In addition, everyone at the office was kind and professional. The office itself is beautiful and clean. It was a pleasant and rewarding experience and I will highly recommend this dental office to my friends and family!

This is the best dental care I have ever received, and I've lived in four different countries and three different states :) I came to the 17th Modern Dentistry for a second opinion on a crown. I had several crowns done at a different office and decided to try 17th Modern Dentistry for other dental work as they are much closer to me, see patients on Saturdays, and make their own crowns. They also replace a crown at no charge if a root canal becomes necessary after the crown is done (which my previous dentist did not offer!) Every single person helping me, from the front office to the dental assistants were excellent. Professional, friendly, caring and very accommodating. Dr. Ruppert-Majer is simply amazing!! She did 9 beautiful crowns for me - painless, quick (3 crowns in two hours!) and beautiful! It's been three weeks since my last appointment, and I feel great. As I now realize, my previous dentist was not up to standard at all. I had to do two root canals after her crown work and to redo a yet another failed root canal! I was in so much unnecessary pain for so long....Compared to the crowns I got at the 17th Modern Dentistry, the crowns I got at the other office are discolored, mismatched, and not at all as natural-looking as the new 17th Modern Dentistry crowns. I'm now considering replacing them altogether and getting new crowns at the 17th Modern Dentistry. Dr. Ruppert-Majer took her time to talk to me, answered all my questions and is clearly up to date on the latest dental research and technology. She so obviously enjoys her work and goes extra step to do the very best job she can possibly do. I also redid a failed root canal at the office with Dr. Hayashi - painless and quick as well! I appreciated Dr. Hayashi's gentle manner, he put me at ease and made me comfortable, which is so important with any dental procedure, let along a scary root canal! I need another crown and a redo on another failing root canal, and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else :) I highly recommend Dr. Ruppert-Majer, Dr. Hayashi, and 17th Modern Dentistry!

I came here as a new patient and couldn't have been happier with my experience. From the moment I walked in to being checked out, every team member was so kind and ready to help. I had an exam by Dr. Walker and a cleaning RDH Emily. Thank you for making me feel welcome and comfortable through my entire appointment. Thank you also to Kelly and Cody for making it easy to schedule my appointment and a breeze checking out. Everything was explained clearly to me and I knew exactly what treatment I was receiving and agreeing to. The office was very clean and Covid safety procedures are still being followed. I will definitely be back!

So i scheduled a basic cleaning, it was my first time coming here. They charged me right as i came in for a cleaning. First they took my x-rays, and then we went into the room and they came in telling me i needed like 4 crowns and my wisdom teeth removed. I have no pain and my teeth have never hurt and my wisdom teeth have never hurt me either. They come back in with a huge quote and are pushing me to schedule all this stuff that's so unneeded. After i told him i can't schedule any of that stuff now, he told me to take my bib off and i'm good to go?? I payed for a cleaning!! and they were gonna let me go without the cleaning already paid for, after i've waited almost TWO HOURS! I asked if i could get what i paid for and they said yes and the cleaning probably took 10 minutes at most! I could've been in and out in 15 minutes but instead i was in there for almost two hours listening to them trying to sell me on stuff i don't need. Don't come here unless u wanna waste your time and be pressured to spend thousands of dollars for stuff that you don't even need!!!

Just wanted to take a moment to thank the entire staff at 17th Street Modern Dentistry for their excellence and professionalism. Specifically I would like to note the effectiveness of Dr. Walker's approach to dental care. When I first consulted with Dr. Walker I had neglected my clinical dental care for many years and he helped me form a plan of action and provided reasonable payment options including a very useful supplemental dental insurance plan. After two years with 17th Street my dental health is vastly improved. My hygienist, Emily, is a true professional and I really tell she cares about her patients and their dental health. Her work is very thorough and she even gave me some simple tips to help in between cleanings. The proof of her manifold skills is in the results: my cleanings are no longer a bloody horror show, my overall dental health has improved, and I feel very happy with the overall product. I look forward to continuing my care plan with Emily and Dr. Walker indefinitely. Strongly recommend.

I was referred by my dentist to 17th Street Modern Dentistry for a common procedure with a specialist. During my appointment, the benefits coordinator, Cody, told me that my insurance "does not cover it" and that he has "never seen that service covered by any insurance" (Lie #1) After I was charged $700, I went home and found out that my insurance DOES cover it. When I called back to fix the issue, he told me it was my primary dentist's fault for the error (Lie #2). Both my primary dentist and insurance confirmed that it was 17th St Modern Dentistry's responsibility to have billed it correctly. I called back to 17th St Modern dentistry and he said since the insurance wouldn't cover it (since he billed it incorrectly), his hands were tied and that there was "nothing he could do". I spent 2 days calling back and forth between my insurance, primary dentist, and unraveling several more lies from 17th St Modern Dentistry. It was their error from the beginning, so after pursuing the issue and threatening to dispute it, they finally agreed to issue a refund (while still pointing the finger elsewhere). Mistakes happen, but their refusal to take responsibility for the billing error and then repeatedly lying to cover it up is extremely unprofessional, and has convinced me to never use their services again.

This was my best experience in any medical office I've ever been to - dentist, doctor, ER, surgery, etc. I was calling around the area to find a new dentist and I chose 17th because the receptionist was 10x more friendly and helpful than the other places I called. The lobby is clean and organized, and my check in process as a new patient was simple, easy to do on the ipad they provided, and quick. Once I was in my appointment, my dentist introduced herself, gave me a brief overview of what they were going to do for my appointment, and made me feel seen and welcome. I ended up staying there for 3 hours getting work done, and every nurse and technician was helpful and communicative. It was a great experience and I'm giving a big thank you to the entire team there for making my first appointment not just tolerable, but kind of enjoyable! Thank you
