Originally from Florida, Dr. Nguyen moved to NYC to pursue a career in dentistry. She completed her dental training at the prestigious Columbia University where she was one of 10 students to graduate with clinical honors. To further her skills, she completed a general practice residency at the Brooklyn VA Hospital. She then worked at various offices in the city before joining Jackson Ave Dental.

Dr. Nguyen values her patients concerns and will always make time to listen before providing an honest assessment of their oral condition. She believes that good oral health is instrumental to quality of life and strives her best to provide the best plan and treatment for her patients.

In her free time, Dr. Nguyen likes to cook, bake, try new restaurants, and travel. During her career, Dr. Nguyen has traveled internationally to Panama and the Dominican Republic to perform dental services for the underserved population. In the future, she plans to continue to give back to the community.

No lie! She even put some numbing cream before injecting the anesthesia which helped a lot. Best part? She had everything done in 1h! My previous experiences with dentists have always been scary and long but she definitely made me change the way I see it!

Hi, I'm Dr. David Chen and it is a pleasure to meet all of you! I'm a native New Yorker and grew up in Flushing, Queens. I also have one younger sister but can you guess what she does? You may be surprised.

For the longest time ever since 5th grade I've been having periodic recurring dental nightmares. That had to do with the fact that we would occasionally play hockey during gym class with no protection and what do you know? Of course some guy twice my size knocks my front tooth out. Ever since then, I've avoided dentistry and hockey like a vampire avoids garlic. It wasn't until after college that I decided to give dentistry another look. You know, maybe all of those dreams meant something? So I gave it a try by working at a dental office for a few years. After experiencing what it was like to be a dental assistant and having a few years of experience under my belt, I went off to dental school. To me, the most valuable lesson that I learned during my time at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine was that anything was possible as long as you pursue it with pure intentions. While we're here, I also want to give a shout out to all my classmates, class of 2016!!!

Anyway back to how I got into dentistry... Interestingly enough, I no longer have dental nightmares so if I can face my fears, maybe you can too. Even more interestingly, I also picked up ice skating recently and have learned to appreciate the winter sports a lot more. That hockey footwork is amazing.

It's not so much about practicing as a dentist but rather the interaction that occurs between my patients and I. Its hard to describe in words because each and every encounter is unique in itself. Even if I'm not having the greatest day, that can all change when I meet someone that I just click with. Its good to take care of people but its just a whole other level when you get to take care of someone that you like!

Also for those who are very anxious and nervous, it becomes sort of a game for me to try to break every preconceived notion that you have about us and dentistry. Getting those bleeding gums and tooth cavity under control becomes secondary to making you comfortable. I want everyone to not fear going to the dentist. I want everyone to be so healthy that they only need to come for check ups and cleanings. The only way to achieve that is if you're not afraid.

  • Clean: You should never have to worry about anything being 'dirty' in this office becausethat thought shouldn 't even exist. We also hate putting our belongings on the floor so we created a hanging wardrobe for you. We may very well be the only dental office in all of LIC to have a closet.
  • Modern: All of our equipment is up to date. Our dental management software is completely cloud based andlast but not least, we have the most luxurious feeling apricot chairs that you will ever sit in. Please let us know if it was worth the splurge.
  • Minimalism: Not only is less more but we also believe that each of us should not be defined by what we have but rather by our values and the force behindour ideas. After all, 'The only real revolution is in the enlightenment of the mind and the improvement of character, the only real emancipation is individual and the only real revolutionists are philosophers and saints.'
  • Sustainable: When we say sustainable we mean (2) things. The first being our duty to take care of this little blue planet which we call home. Wewill tryourbest to minimize paper, maximize post recycled products, and minimize waste creation. The second being, building an enduringrelationship with those we serve, the LIC community and of course you.
  • Warm: We hope to make this place warm and fuzzy enough for you to call it a safe place. We don 't want you to say 'I 'm going to the dentist.' but rather 'I 'm going to my dentist.' We are not trying to be just acquaintances. We wish to build a relationship that will withstand the sands of time. Our existence is solely defined by our abilityto serve you and the greater LIC community because if we were stranded on an abandoned island, all of our skills and knowledge as dentists are absolutely useless. Therefore, we persist not because we insistbut because you need us so. Consequently once we are no longer needed, we will cease to be. This quaint little dental office in long island city will disappearso if you like us, please say it loudly! Please let the rest of LIC know about us.We don 't need chocolates or flowers, ifyou just send your friends and family to be under our care, that would be the biggest compliment that we could ever ask for.We will treat them the same exact way as we 've been treating you.But please do not send your frenemies becauseif you don 't get along with them, we probably won 't either!
