Dr. Heather Johnson grew up in Grand Forks. She loves the community and being close to her family and friends. Her husband, Steve, works at 1101 Dental. You might see him working behind the front desk and greeting patients. Dr. Johnson also has four children- Emily, Ben, Tommy, and Nick. They like to say hello to mom and play in the Kid Zone located in the lobby.
Dr. Johnson has many hobbies. She loves to play with her nieces and nephews. They know every park in town! You might see her walking around Grand Forks to grab a cup of coffee. Dr. Johnson is a Vikings fan, while her husband roots for the Bears. Every summer, she looks forward to Art Fest and the Aneta turkey barbecue. You will also find her swimming and biking with her family. Dr. Johnson loves to try new recipes and has a big collection of cookbooks.
Dr. Kayla Sovak is a North Dakota native who grew up in Minot. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of North Dakota. Dr. Sovak attended Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Glendale, Arizona where she graduated with her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) as well as the North Dakota Dental Association (NDDA). Dr. Sovak loves all that dentistry has to offer and the great relationships she creates with her patients.
Dr. Sovak and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors in the summer fishing on Lake Sakakawea with their family. During the winter, they are avid Fighting Hawks fans and attend many of the hockey games.

I've always had a terrible fear of the dentist, even just going in for a cleaning freaked me out. But, the people and dentists who work here are understanding and kind, and even though I was scared, they didn't judge me or anything instead they comforted me and made sure I was okay throughout my whole appointment. Even when they tell you "you need to floss more" it's kind and understanding. They get the fact that not everyone's perfect and actually try to come up with solutions to make things easier. As scared as I am, I completely trust this people and this dentist. They are genuinely GOOD people and that's what all dentists/doctors/ect. Should be. Thank you for being so comforting. :)

The staff is so kind every single time I go there. Dr Sovak and the woman who was working beside her is such a sweet person I didn't catch her name... this is the first dentist I genuinely look forward to going to Dr Sovak makes sure i'm as comfortable as can be and explains to me step by step exactly how everything is going and what exactly she is doing. This is the first time a dentist has ever done that with me. I will continue to come here and look forward to getting my smile back again

They do a great job overall, friendly staff who follow up, and really accurate dental work. They always let you know what's going on and make you feel comfortable. Dr Sovac is very precise and gentle. She did a really good job and I appreciate it. Thanks Again!

Highly recommend! My daughter was complaining of tooth pain. 1101 was able to get her in within a week to check her teeth even though they were too busy for a cleaning. Dr. Sovak was AMAZING with her, as was the lady that got us all set up in the room. My daughter is 3 and she said she had fun! From the kid area in the waiting room to the little "games" they play to make the tools seem less scary. They explained everything they were doing and made her feel comfortable. Because of a cancellation, we were able to even fit in a cleaning. She also got a little toy afterwards!

I needed a tooth extracted. Dr. Sovak was amazing! She knew I was anxious, having a previous bad experience with tooth extraction. She talked me through it and continued to ask how I was. She would stop and give me a break as needed. Kim, her dental assistant, was just as great. Thank you for making it a positive experience.
