Learn More About Endodontic Treatment

Here at Curtis Endodontics, we provide advanced endodontic treatment as described below. As endodontists, Drs. Darrell and Shane Curtis exclusively perform advanced treatments with the goal of preserving teeth and relieving pain.

  • Our endodontists specialize in treating inflamed or infected soft tissue called pulp, located in the hollow center of a tooth. Often times the only way to preserve the tooth and relieve pain is to remove the pulp with a procedure called root canal treatment.

  • Sometimes, root canal treatment isn’t sufficient to eliminate infection. In such cases, our endodontists may recommend an apicoectomy, a minor surgical procedure performed routinely at Curtis Endodontics with great success.

Leading Edge Technology

A dental operating microscope is an indispensable tool in modern endodontic diagnosis and treatment that provides illumination and magnification up to 25 times that of the naked eye. This level of detail allows our specialists to easily view minute tooth structures and perform complex root canal therapy and microsurgery safely and precisely.

Hear From Our Patients

  • This was my third root canal and was by the far the best one. Dr. Curtis was very informative and patient. He took his time making sure it was done properly as my roots were curved at the bottom. Highly recommend as we all know root canals are no fun! Also all the staff are very friendly and willing to help.

  • Dr. Darrell Curtis and his assistant, Rachel were very friendly and professional. Dr. Curtis explained to me all my options step by step, and was very understanding when I told him I have never had a root canal done and that I was anxious about the process. He took great care of me and did a fantastic job. He followed up after to check how I was doing. Very happy with my experience, thank you for all your great work.

  • Had a great experience with my most recent root canal procedure. Dr. Curtis was very kind and explained everything that was happening. Minimal discomfort during the process.

  • Got my first root canal there and it was worth every penny. The care I received from Dr. Shane Curtis and his assistant was exceptional and they were very thorough and professional as well as kind and compassionate. I was nervous- they were fixing a previously botched composite rebuild of my molar that had been severely infected- but their team reassured me that I would be well taken care of. They stayed true to their word. I am very pleased as well as complication and pain free. Would definitely recommend and will be returning to them for any and all endodontic concerns in the future.

What Is an Endodontist?

Endodontics is a specialty area of dentistry that treats diseases and injuries of the soft tissues inside a tooth.

An endodontist's education involves at least two years of additional specialty training beyond dental school. All endodontists are dentists; however, less than three percent of dentists have earned the distinction of being called endodontists.

What Services Does an Endodontist Provide?

You may also hear an endodontist called a root canal specialist. While general dentists can perform root canals, at Curtis Endodontics, all focus exclusively on endodontic treatment.

The benefit of choosing a specialist is that they have devoted their career to this specific area of dentistry, which translates to a higher level of expertise and experience when performing such services as:

  • Root canal treatment
  • Root canal retreatment
  • Endodontic microsurgery (apicoectomy)
  • Resorption treatment
  • Dental trauma management
  • Cracked teeth treatment

At Curtis Endodontics, we use highly-specialized technology that most general dentists do not. This ensures that your treatment is comfortable and efficient. We believe this results in the highest potential for long-term success.

Comfortable, Stress-Free Root Canal Treatment

It's no surprise that people feel anxious about having a root canal, considering all the myths and stories they've heard. The fact is that root canal treatment has a high success rate and very often eliminates tooth pain. In many cases, it is also the only treatment that can save a natural tooth.

Even so, we understand that fear around the procedure is real. So, we do everything we can to demystify the process and help our patients understand that it may not be as complex as they might believe.

Drs. Darrell and Shane Curtis are very kind and easygoing and want you to have a comfortable experience. They review your 3-D cone beam ct scans with you while carefully explaining the proposed treatment, so you understand what it involves. They also provide you with alternative treatment options, so you are fully informed before you make a decision.

We Look forward to Serving You!

Whether your general dentist refers you for treatment or you come to us directly, you can expect a comfortable experience and genuine concern for your needs.

We look forward to meeting you and helping you regain your healthy smile. If you have questions or concerns, please call us at (717) 550-4040, and we will be happy to assist you.
