Who are we?

YOUR LOCAL PERIODONTIST

We are pleased that you have chosen our office to help with your periodontal needs. As a dentist owned practice we strive to stay local within our community and not become a large scary corporate office. We are dedicated to provide state-of-the-art treatment in a comfortable and friendly environment. Dr. Traxler and Dr. Roberts are certified Periodontists, a specialist trained in care and treatment of the gums and jawbone. This includes dental implant placement, use of multiple dental lasers, and a license to administer IV sedation.

Our experienced team is proud to provide patients with the most esthetic results possible for gum grafting and smile design-aimed at covering ugly, sensitive roots, and balancing an uneven gum line.

We believe that successful periodontal care begins with an informed patient. At our office you will learn the best approach to treat your periodontal needs. You are encouraged to bring your spouse or loved one, ask questions, and share your dental concerns with us. Working as a team with your general dentist, we are committed to improving your overall oral health.

DENTAL PROCEDURES

Our primary goal is to save your natural dentition, but if necessary, we are skilled at preservation of gum and jawbone and painless extraction of teeth.

Periodontal DDS

Read My Bio

I’m Dan Roberts and I love what I do. I am a Southern California native. I began USC dental school before completing college, so at 24 years old, I was one of the youngest students to earn a DDS. I practiced as a general dentist for four years before graduating Oregon Health Science University in Periodontics.

Why I became a periodontist: The faculty at USC invited me to take part in an honors periodontal study group, during my senior year. This perked my interest and motivated me to learn more. As a general dentist, I joined the Western Society of Periodontology. My mentor, Gordon Patterson, encouraged me to apply to a postgraduate periodontal program.

I completed OHSU in 1986 but my education is on going. I am dedicated to bringing my patients the latest proven techniques in Dental implants, periodontal procedures, bone grafting, gum grafting, laser techniques, digital 3-D x-ray, and IV sedation. We are continually adding new material, devices, and techniques to benefit our patients.

I have lived and practiced periodontics exclusively in Encinitas for over 25 years. I like to compare myself to a Labrador. I Love water and I Love people. I have been married to my wife Kathy for over 30 years and have raised two children, Addy and Joseph in the Encinitas School district. Look for me on my surfboard between Swamis and Ponto!

Allow me to introduce myself and tell you more about my treatment philosophy. I am particularly motivated to restore the periodontal health of my patients, while enhancing their ability to maintain their natural dentition. I place an emphasis on achieving the highest possible esthetic and functional outcomes through attention to detail in soft tissue management, implant site development, and implant placement. My dental philosophy is to pursue excellence through a patient-centered and multidisciplinary approach to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients. I value integrity, open communication, and continuous improvement.

I am originally from San Diego, and was raised in Phoenix, AZ where I attended Arizona State University; earning my B.S. degree in Supply Chain Management from the W.P. Carey School of Business. Upon graduation I relocated to Seattle, WA to begin a career with The Boeing Company supporting the F-22 Raptor fighter jet program. After approximately six years with Boeing, I left to pursue my passion with a career in dentistry and received my D.D.S. degree from the University of California, San Francisco. I then continued my education in Periodontics at the University of Illinois, Chicago; completing my research in tissue engineering and biomimetics for a M.S. degree.

I recently relocated from Chicago with my wife and baby boy. We survived a cross-country road trip with a newborn and are excited to plant our roots in the community! In my free time I have a passion for music, sports, the outdoors, and volunteering. As a pre-dental student, I was fortunate to volunteer as a clinic manager and Spanish translator with the University of California, San Diego free dental clinic project.

I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Office Manager

Read My Bio

I am born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. I came to California in 1988. What was supposed to be an extended vacation turned into a lifetime. I had started my dental career in Copenhagen as a registered dental assistant. Once in California I quickly learned that surgical dentistry is my passion and joined an oral surgery practice as a surgical assistant. After 6 years as a surgical assistant I wanted to broaden my horizon and decided to move to the front office. I joined a prosthodontic practice where after a few years I was promoted to office manager. I was fortunate enough to be with that practice for 16 years. This wonderful opportunity made me realize that office administration and management is my true passion. I take a lot of pride in the patient and professional relationships I have built over the years. I feel very fortunate to be part of this amazing team and look forward to spending many more years with Encinitas Perio developing more relationships and helping facilitate patients` treatment.

I have lived in Temecula the past 25+ years. I have raised two boys, Cameron and Seth. In my free time enjoy travelling, camping hiking, CrossFit, yoga and spending time with my family.

I am originally from San Diego, born and raised in Rancho Bernardo. I moved away to Oahu where I spent a few years enjoying the island life. Southern California is hard to stay away from so I returned in 2018 to live in San Clemente. Upon returning, I started my journey becoming a dental assistant.  Perio was the first specialty I assisted with and I fell in love immediately. I feel blessed to be a part of Encinitas Perio to provide our patients with a comfortable environment and experience.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my fiancé and rescue doggie, Racer. There is nothing I love more than skiing and being in the mountains, but as a San Diego native I cannot keep away from the beach.  When it is not ski season, I love to golfing, longboarding, and fishing in the Sierras.

I was born and raised in a small town in Kansas where I learned the two most important traits; kindness and courtesy. It’s no secret that I sincerely care about people and their health. In 2007 I started work in a periodontal practice in Lawrence, Kansas and worked there until 2013 when I moved to San Diego with my husband Brad and our two cats Enzo & Ezra. I absolutely love every aspect of perio and consider myself blessed to work in such an incredible atmosphere. I’m extremely dedicated to my work and I consistently strive to provide the most comfortable experience to each and every patient. In my spare time I like to beach hop with my husband, and watch Kansas City football with my husband, relax with my kitties, and LOVE watching my Kansas Jayhawks basketball.

Insurance Coordinator

I was born and raised in Utah where I married my High School sweetheart. He joined the Coast Guard shortly after which has taken us on quite the life adventure. We have two children, Collin & Avery. We have lived in Florida, Texas (twice), North Carolina (twice) and now California (twice).  We just moved to San Diego from North Carolina last summer and we have fallen in love!

I always loved going to the dentist as a child and from a young age I knew I wanted to work in a dental office. In 2010 I went to Dental Assisting School in Texas, while there, I started an internship with an Oral Surgeon’s office  and was hired on as a surgical assistant. My heart was in Oral Surgery. I worked there for a few years before we were transferred to North Carolina. Once I was there, I decided to make a change so I could learn the administration side of a dental office. I worked in a General Dentist Office for about 7 years being their Insurance & New Patient Coordinator. After North Carolina, we were transferred to beautiful San Diego! Which brought me here to Encinitas Perio where I can help you with your insurance needs! I feel so blessed to have found this amazing office! Working with a team who truly cares for their patients like family.

In my free time I love to hike, read a good book and watch the sunset.
