Routine Exams

The most basic dental appointment is also the most necessary: This is the bi-annual exam and cleaning. Routine dental exams are generally quick and easy. You’ll likely be in and out of the office within 45 minutes to an hour.

The exam portion of your appointment consists of a few “bite downs” and “open wides”. That’s it. The process of checking for dental issues is rather simple. Depending on your case, the dentist may want to conduct a quick set of X-rays.

Dental Hygiene

The cleaning portion of the exam is more effective than any toothbrush. Following the removal of plaque and tartar, your dentist will conduct the deepest clean possible, using a high-powered electric brush. Your dentist will then floss your teeth for you and will finish off the session with a fluoride treatment that protects teeth against cavities for months on end. You will leave the dentist’s office not only looking sharp but also feeling fresh.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are a common treatment for cavities and tooth decay. Fillings are used to prevent minor decay from rapidly spreading bacteria into the tooth’s pulp, thus avoiding a root canal.

At Wilson Dental you have a choice in the type of dental filling you want.

Tooth-colored Composites

Made of composite resin, this filling is a great choice if you want a filling that is the same shade as your teeth. Tooth-colored composites chemically bond to the tooth for added strength.

Dental Amalgam

This is a highly durable filling, often lasting a lifetime for some patients. Commonly referred to as “silver” fillings, dental amalgams are a long-used, trusted filling.

Fillings take no longer than an hour to complete. Composite resin fillings generally take a bit longer than other options, but they come with their own set of benefits. Local anesthesia is applied if necessary to numb the area so that you are comfortable throughout.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns restore a tooth to its full glory – resulting in a truly aesthetically pleasing appearance. There are a few types of dental crowns. Dental crowns are often chosen based on your needs and budget. Each type comes with it’s own set of advantages.

All ceramic or all porcelain crowns:

These types of crowns fully match the color of teeth for a concealed appearance and work very well with those who may have allergies to metal. This is the go-to crown solution for front teeth.

Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns:

This option is very durable and matches the same shade as your teeth. However, they may appear as dark lines around your tooth so many people prefer to use them for back teeth that are not as visible.

All metal crowns:

This option is the most durable of them all at the cost of aesthetic appearance. They do not match the same color as teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Whether you want a touch-up or a full-scale mouth makeover, we’re prepared with the best expertise and tools to improve the look and function of your mouth. We offer a plethora of advanced dental services for cosmetic purposes:

  • Dental implants

  • Dental crowns

  • Porcelain veneers

  • Teeth whitening

  • Bridges

  • Dental bonding

  • And more

Cosmetic dentistry can have profound effects on the way you feel, and thus also affects school, social, and job performance.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a very popular cosmetic dentistry procedure that improves the appearance of teeth by restoring the enamel to its natural white color. It is estimated that over 100 million Americans whiten their teeth. Our professional teeth whitening is far more powerful and effective than over-the-counter solutions. A common alternative to professional bleaching is Crest white strips, which may take up to 40 uses before a desired outcome is visible.

Teeth whitening performed in our dental office is guaranteed to whiten your teeth by at least a few shades. Depending on how severely discolored your teeth are, we will determine how many appointments you will need until your teeth are completely whitened.
